Deflation is beckoning amid high debt levels – a risky scenario for Japan

The trade war has boosted the rate of the yen as a safe-haven currency. This is a source of concern for the Bank of Japan, as it increases the risk of deflation. Japan wants to avoid deflation at any cost in connection with the very high debt levels.
